This is also the best location for photography of these birds because when the males arrive to this area they are in their brightest plumage - not the case on the Gulf coast. Testosterone level in the males is through the roof because of this unique set of circumstances - lots of fighting. So the birds stick around for a quite a while to feed, while there are increased numbers of birds (including Spruce Budworm specialists) nesting because of the Budworm outbreak.
